As you turn into Baby Island Heights, Saratoga Road continues and becomes a lane, unmarked except for the "Dead End" sign around this corner. If you miss the turn you will end up in Freeland.

On a warm day, Lucky will greet you from smack dab in the middle of the road--Don't hit the old fellow, He DOES NOT move no matter what. It's his road, after all.

Most of the homes here are small and fairly old; there are now a few larger homes being built including this one at the end of the road, Baby Island Lodge on the right out of sight, and a large house under construction going up on the left (not visible).

Park headed into the fence to fit 7 cars here if you park efficiently.

A quiet neighborhood, great place for an early morning walk.
|
Many of the small homes in the neighborhood were formerly cabins, part of the fishing resort which was a famous salmon fishing hangout many years ago. |
Baby Island, for which the neighborhood, my lodge and a few other things are named, is the most interesting feature of the island; explore it at low tide. There are many accounts of the goings-on over the last 50 years on Baby Island, from speak-easy to oyster farm. Be sure to see the photo of it with buildings still standing when you visit Baby Island Lodge.

The fishing dock was constructed by Baby Island Beach Club a few years ago and the bulkhead was rebuild this winter.

Eagles nest at the top of huge trees along the bank. This is only a baby but already a very large bird. You will see crows chasing the eagles hoping to discourage them from robbing nests.
