Karen and Terry,
I wanted you to have a small thing for your wonderful lodge. The space is specially peaceful and is a place of warmth and dreams. What a week! Both of you will always be special to me. Many Thanks, Kathleen Amt

Tried fishing this morning at 10:00. Low tide was at 7:30. No fish, too late. I'm going to wade out at 4 ft. low tide to get mussels from dock pilings to eat for protein to build up my muscles.

I'm glad we came and I got to spend more time all together, especially without other outside influences and confluences; most particularly so that I could be reminded of the bittersweet sorrow of losing royally at canasta to my pal Siobhan and have the opportunity for Laura to spend time with all her most wonderful extended family. There's sunshine on the show on Baby Island and last night this house cast a huge shadow on the snow in the moonlight.
Love, Margo

I bought many waterfront homes in my sleep last night--the green and white ones, the red-roofed one, the red cabin, the tiny house and many I have not seen yet. I am sure it was exhausting buying all the houses--but I am very well rested this morning. I have not had this much "rest" time in a zillion somethings--it is good to be back on Whidbey and, of course, amongst my best friends! Mary (Durkan)

Hi Karen,
None of us found time to write in your guest book, but we sure would have said good things if we had. I do want you to know that we immediately fell in love with the house, the setting, and of course the view. We had minus tides both mornings that we were there, which made our excursions out to Baby Island really great. My daughter and I are self-proclaimed beach naturalists (very amateur) so we loved all of the shore life examples. We were able to show a lot to our Virginia relatives - they were astounded at all of the amazing things we saw and enthralled: crabs, of several sizes, chitons, moon snails, and even a clam spouting show. Not to mention the baby seals, and adults out in the water, egrets, and eagles! We used the BBQ, made smores at the campfire circle, and perused your amazing libraries of books. Thanks also for the video collection - the kids did watch something. We just loved the house because it is so gorgeous, but delightful and homey and full of charming surprises. Our time there was all too short, but there is always a "next time".
Our glass bottles overflowed the recycling container but your setup made everything very easy.
Thanks again.
Sheila

Beautiful color schemes in the clouds, slabs of sea lions on the island, the two of us slabs in our sofas with our projects. Had a peaceful November day even without the long-awaited fireplace. But that will be a wonderful addition. Will definitely come to try it out. Esther

Brianna, Sean, Karen, Terry, Laura, Margo and I all stayed here last night. We arrived after driving for 7 hours from Michael's house in B.C. We almost had a different plan, to go straight to Seattle, because of all the snow (and my concern of reaction to allergies), but good sense prevailed and we had a wonderful meal of soup, lamb and pomegranate (sp?) Salad and then canasta (not me!). The sky is clear now and Whidbey is covered with a couple of inches of snow. Everyone had such a wonderful time on this trip, riding around in the suburban. Staying at the lodge as a perfect culmination of a wonderfully memorable trip. I'm really glad Karen was so strongly in favor of coming to the lodge since I'm sure we're unanimous in recognizing that staying here outweighed all those countervailing facts. For example, I had no detectable allergic reaction. I love all you Murphys. - Dan Lockshon

| Dear Karen,
This house was already filled with so much love and warmth when we arrived, that we couldn't help but have a wonderful reunion. We agreed that we will want to come back and see how the seasons' changes look. We all wish you well, love and light.

I don't know the date so I must be out of school and on vacation. That means I must be doing something right. And what better way to spend a holiday than in a peaceful place like this surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of the natural world. Once again I have had the chance to twitter with a hummingbird, gawk at an eagle (and a few hawks on the way), and commune with the myriad of bees and bugs in the garden and grass. No deer sightings this trip, nor did my favorite bunny come to munch a little clover with me but I'm sure I'll have many more opportunities in the future. The seals seem to be away for the weekend, perhaps at folklife, which is where I'm going to be later today. I hope the musicians sound as sweet as the waves and the birds here. You found a lovely place. Thank you. I will definitely bring the grandchildren out to visit many years from now when there's a whole dormitory and a hot tub. Lots of love, Brianna
